Terms of Service

The agreement between you and the team behind TextSetu, covering accounts, acceptable use, AI translation, liability and termination.

Last updated 2026-07-28

1. Who you are agreeing with

TextSetu is an independent project. It is not an incorporated company. These Terms are an agreement between you and the individuals who build and operate it. You can reach us at hello@textsetu.com.

We do not publish the operators' names or a postal address here. If you need our full legal identity and an address for service of a formal notice, email hello@textsetu.com and we will provide them.

By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you are agreeing for an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it, and "you" means that organisation. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

We flag our status up front because it changes your risk assessment: there is no corporate entity standing behind the service. If your procurement or security review requires a counterparty company, a signed DPA from a legal entity, or a formal SLA, we are not able to provide that today.

2. The service

TextSetu is a translation management platform with an integrated AI translation engine. We may change, add or remove features.

Early access. TextSetu is currently free. It is early-access software built by a small team: features may change or break more often than in a mature product, and we do not guarantee availability, uptime or data durability. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Export is available at any time and we recommend using it regularly.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details, for keeping credentials secure, and for everything done under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must be at least 16 to hold an account.

4. Your content

You keep all rights in the content you upload: source strings, translations, glossaries, screenshots and everything else.

You grant us a limited licence to host, copy, transmit, display and process that content only to operate the service for you: storing it, showing it to collaborators you authorise, transmitting it to the AI provider you selected, and generating exports. The licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, subject to backup cycles.

We do not use your content to train our own models and we do not sell it.

You are responsible for having the rights to upload what you upload, and for ensuring it complies with the law, including data protection law where the content contains personal data. Where you need a data processing agreement covering that content, email hello@textsetu.com.

5. AI translation

  • AI output is generated by third-party models. It can be wrong, inconsistent or inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing it before use. We strongly recommend enabling approval workflows.
  • We do not warrant that AI output is accurate, fit for any purpose, or free of third-party rights.
  • Where you supply your own provider key, your relationship with that provider is direct and governed by their terms; complying with them is your responsibility.
  • Where you use TextSetu platform keys, we route your requests on your behalf, and provider terms may still restrict certain uses.
  • Provider availability is outside our control. The ranked fallback chain reduces but does not eliminate the risk of a run failing.

6. Acceptable use

You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: do not break the law, do not attack or overload the service, do not use it to generate unlawful or abusive content, and do not try to extract the underlying models or resell raw access to them.

7. Fees

TextSetu is free during early access and we are not charging for it today.

If we introduce paid plans or metered AI credits we will update these Terms and give you notice first. Nothing here obliges you to pay for anything you have not separately agreed to. Where you use your own AI provider key, any usage costs are billed to you by that provider directly and we have no part in them.

Cancellation, what happens to a period you have already paid for, and the cases in which we refund a payment or an unused credit balance are set out in our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

8. Third-party services

Connecting TextSetu to a third-party service (an AI provider, an SSO identity provider, a repository) is your choice, and your use of that service is governed by its own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Intellectual property

The service, its software, design and documentation are owned by us and our licensors. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service. You may not copy, reverse engineer or create derivative works from it except where that restriction is unenforceable by law.

Feedback you send us may be used freely and without obligation.

10. Confidentiality

Each party will protect the other's non-public information with at least reasonable care and use it only for the purpose of this agreement. This does not apply to information that is public, independently developed, or lawfully obtained elsewhere.

11. Warranties and disclaimers

We provide the service with reasonable skill and care. Otherwise the service is provided "as is" and "as available", and to the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that data will not be lost, or that AI output will be accurate.

Nothing in these Terms limits statutory rights that cannot lawfully be limited, including consumer rights.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data.
  • Our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to these Terms will not exceed the total amount you have paid us for the service. During early access that amount is zero.

Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Note that because we are not incorporated, these limits are the main protection the operators have; they are also the main limit on what you can recover.

13. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your content or your breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, except to the extent the claim results from our own breach.

14. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the service or other users, with notice where practicable, and immediately where the risk requires it.

We may also discontinue the service entirely. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and a window to export your content, unless circumstances outside our control prevent it.

On termination your right to use the service ends. There is currently no self-service account deletion; email hello@textsetu.com and we will delete your account and content manually. See the Privacy Policy for what that covers.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give notice by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the update.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING JURISDICTION, THE COUNTRY OR STATE WHERE THE OPERATORS ARE BASED], and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

17. General

These Terms, with the Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Refund and Cancellation Policy and, where applicable, the DPA, form the entire agreement between us. If any provision is unenforceable the rest survives. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to a legal entity we later form to operate TextSetu, on notice to you.
